Project Aware
Project AWARE Foundation is a growing movement of scuba divers protecting the ocean planet – one dive at a time. Over the past two decades of underwater conservation we’ve learned that divers are true leaders in ocean protection. We’re ocean heroes numbering in the millions across the globe. We believe together our actions will make a huge impact and will help to rescue the ocean. We’re focusing in on two major ocean issues –Sharks in Peril and Marine Debris, or trash in our ocean. Manta Ray of Hope
The Manta Ray of Hope project is a joint initiative that includes top field investigators and leading scientists and researches, all working together to further the conservation of manta and mobula rays. The project was founded by Sharks Savers and WildAid, with support from the Silvercrest Foundation, Hrothgar Investments, and private donors. Time is running out for mantas and mobulas. We MUST act before it’s too late for these magnificent animals. (more info)

Sea Shepherd
Established in 1977, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS) is an international non-profit, marine wildlife conservation organization. Our mission is to end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world's oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species. Sea Shepherd uses innovative direct-action tactics to investigate, document, and take action when necessary to expose and confront illegal activities on the high seas. By safeguarding the biodiversity of our delicately-balanced ocean ecosystems, Sea Shepherd works to ensure their survival for future generations. (more info)
Coral Reef
NOAA Coral Reef Watch (CRW) uses satellite sea surface temperature data to alert managers and scientists around the world of the risk of coral bleaching. CRW has also recently developed a new system, which uses NOAA experimental sea surface temperature forecasts, to predict coral bleaching events. The prediction system uses forecast models to develop bleaching outlooks up to three months in advance. To continue addressing the threat of coral bleaching, reef managers are provided with tools to understand climate change and coral bleaching and information about how to take action in response to alerts of potential bleaching conditions. Oceanic Society
Established in 1969 as a non-profit conservation organization, the Society’s approach is to collaborate with local communities on conservation initiatives. We also promote sustainable livelihoods as an alternative to those destructive to wildlife and natural habitats.
Our wildlife conservation projects enjoy widespread support because we work with local communities from the outset. We have found this approach consistently leads to effective environmental conservation. (more info)

Sea Turtle Oversight Protection
Sea Turtle Oversight Protection (STOP) nighttime survey volunteers monitor sea turtle nests in Broward County. STOP counts the number of hatchlings that emerge from each nest in real-time on the beach as it happens. This requires many months of long nights on the beach. Hatchlings that go east to the ocean are left alone. Hatchlings that disorient to lights are documented and recovered in buckets. Rescued hatchlings are released into the sea or taken to Gumbo Limbo Nature Center in Boca Raton. We do this as volunteers. (more info)
Sea Turtle Conservancy
It is the mission of Sea Turtle Conservancy to ensure the survival of sea turtles within the Caribbean, Atlantic and Pacific through research, education, training, advocacy and protection of the natural habitats upon which they depend. The Sea Turtle Conservancy, formerly known as the Caribbean Conservation Corporation, is the world's oldest sea turtle research and conservation group. An international nonprofit organization, Sea Turtle Conservancy was founded in 1959 by world-renowned sea turtle expert Dr. Archie Carr to save sea turtles from eminent extinction through rigorous science-based conservation. Manta Trust
Manta rays are among the most charismatic creatures that inhabit our oceans. With the largest brain of all fish their intelligence and curiosity make encounters with these creatures a truly amazing experience.
However, despite their popularity with divers and snorkelers many aspects of these creatures lives remain a mystery, with only snippets of their life history understood. More worryingly, in recent years, a fishery for these animals has developed with devastating effects on populations of these animals globally. (more info)
